Every fish friend pursues a clear water and a beautiful fish. A clear and bright tank of good water can make people enjoy their eyes, but it's really not a simple thing to keep good water, especially for novices, it often presents the situation of water turbidity or fish death.

I also showed this situation in the early days of fish farming, so I decided to study the theory of water quality, and now I still have little success in this area. For the problem of water pollution, many fish friends have been troubled. Now I will give us a specific comment after this article.

1、 Three forms of turbid fish tank water

      1. Physical property: the water body turbidity caused by too many particulate impurities in the cylinder is called physical turbidity. In the initial stage of cylinder opening, due to the use of new filter materials, a lot of particulate impurities and short fibers will form water turbidity. However, this kind of turbidity is not terrible. After several days of filtration, most of the impurities can be filtered out. Therefore, physical turbidity is not the main reason for the turbidity of fish tank water.

      2. Chemical property: turbidity caused by adding chemicals, such as water quality turbidity caused by using water purification agent and flocculant, which is very rare, and can be controlled by human completely, and is not the main cause of fish tank water turbidity.

      3. Biological: the phenomenon of turbid water quality caused by many microorganisms is called biological turbid. The water in the fish tank is chaotic and gray, which makes people feel misty. These appearances are the characteristics of biological turbidity. We often say that water turbidity is biological turbidity.

2、 The cause and damage of biological Turbidity

When the tank was just opened, the water was very clear. Why was it turbid in a few days? This is due to the presence of residual feed, feces and other organic matters, which makes heterotrophic bacteria multiply (decompose these organic matters). A lot of heterotrophic bacteria propagated, resulting in the decrease of water clarity and biological turbidity. This is the main reason, and to see the white dirt in the water is actually the bacteria after a lot of reproduction of these heterotrophic bacteria.

The damage of biological turbidity is obvious. Because of the existence of many heterotrophic bacteria, the concentration of their metabolite "ammonia" will also greatly improve, which will form a great burden on the nitrification system, and even exceed the nitrification capacity of the nitrification system, forming a toxin accumulation. Therefore, it is common for fish to die in tanks with poor water quality.

Heterotrophic bacteria, leftover bait and feces are all organic matters. Too much organic matter will inhibit the growth of nitrobacteria. In particular, the biggest damage caused by the multiplication of heterotrophic bacteria is that they compete for limited resources in the tank, consume a lot of oxygen, devour biological filter materials, and acidify the residence, which are extremely harmful to nitrifying bacteria. In a limited water body, the reproduction of microorganisms varies from one to the other. If there are some populations with particularly strong microorganisms, other populations will be restrained and the original balanced system will collapse due to the dominance of one family. Therefore, it is necessary to control biological Turbidity to create an outstanding water environment for fish and ensure the healthy growth of fish.

      3、 Manipulation of biological Turbidity

The appearance of biological turbidity is formed by the multiplication of heterotrophic bacteria, but the essence is due to the formation of a lot of nitrogenous organic compounds in the fish tank. Because of the existence of these nutrients, heterotrophic bacteria are bound to multiply to decompose. After we understand this truth, we will know how to control biological turbidity. To avoid biological Turbidity, it is necessary to choose the method of treating both symptoms and treatment.

      1. Solution: I've studied many fish tanks with turbid water quality and found that one thing they have in common is the accumulation of fish at the bottom of the tank. The weak filtration system of many aquariums is the main reason for the formation of water mixing, which is fully in line with the above theory: "the accumulation of fish residues causes a lot of reproduction of heterotrophic bacteria, thus forming mixed water".

In fact, the way to cure the root cause is very simple. It is to clear up these fish excrement or residual baits in time, do not supply nitrogen to heterotrophic bacteria, do not have enough food, heterotrophic bacteria will not multiply a lot, and the water will become clear, in theory that is the case.

In practical operation, it is necessary for us to match the filtration system reasonably, strengthen the flow making in the tank, so that the fish can be filtered out in a very short time after it is produced, and the residual bait can be fished out in time when it is found, so as to ensure that the water quality will not be turbid, which is also the fundamental way to deal with biological turbidity.

      2. Method of treatment: the so-called treatment is to directly kill a lot of breeding heterotrophic bacteria through various means. This method has quick effect, but it must be used reasonably. The method I recommend is UV sterilization lamp + Em bacteria cooperation.

It is a systematic project to deal with the biological Turbidity of the water quality of the fish tank, so it is necessary to treat both the symptoms and the treatment. It is the key to strengthen the physical filtration and effectively remove the organic matters such as fish excrement and baits. Reasonable use of UV light + Em bacteria can quickly deal with turbidity and maintain water health.
